Mrs. Helen Whatley (Copeland) Mulkey

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Helen Copeland Whatley Mulkey, age 95, of Jefferson, Georgia who passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Mrs. Mulkey was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia, a daughter to the late Strozier and Laura Ellis Copeland. Mrs. Mulkey was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church and the Bethel Baptist Church in Stone Mountain where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Mrs. Mulkey was a Homemaker and was also once nationally recognized for being the youngest grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mulkey is preceded in death by her husbands, Lee K. Whatley and Archie Mulkey; sisters, Juanita Baskett and Frances Pittard. 

Survivors include her son, Michael Whatley and his wife Ellen, of Jefferson; daughter, Brenda Coile of Homer and Mary Helen Whatley Maddox Couch of Hiawassee; seven grandchildren and Ten great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Lawson officiating. The burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Panola Road, Stone Mountain, Georgia at 2:30 PM.  Mrs. Mulkey’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren will be honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-8 PM at Evans Funeral Home.
