Mr. John Thomas Cox

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. John Thomas Cox, age 75, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. Mr. Cox was born in Clinton, North Carolina, a son to the late Nathan and Sarah Pope Cox. Mr. Cox was a house painter and a member and ordained Minister at the New Era Church in Winder. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his son, Robert Cox, brothers, James Cox and Charles Franklin Cox and sisters, Brenda Maupin and Susan Williams. 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara McGinnis Cox of Jefferson; children, Tiffany Sangrey of Orlando, FL, Charlie Cox of Carrboro, NC, John Cox Jr. of Orlando, FL, Darrell Gaines and his wife Teresa of Maysville, Vickie Gaines Skelton and her husband Tim of Demorest; brother, Tommy Easter and his wife Jan of Royston; Nine Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren, Four Great Great Grandchildren, Twelve Nieces and Nephews and numerous cousins also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral home with Bishop Wayne Moore officiating. The burial will follow in the Grey Hill Cemetery in Commerce, Georgia.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home.
