On Wednesday, August 14th, Gary Lee Smith, loving husband, father, brother and friend to many, passed away at age 63.
Gary was born on November 20th, 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia and attended O’Keefe High School in the city. On August 14th1982, he married Sandra Ann Stauffer and together they raised a son, Shawn and daughter, Jennifer.
He had a passion for comedy and was known to always have a good joke up his sleeve. His humor brought happiness and joy to those around him, even in the toughest of times. He was an avid music lover and enjoyed playing his guitar (the neighbors did not). Gary was known for his infectious smile, gentle demeanor and kind, compassionate soul.
Gary is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Jennifer and step-son Shawn, along with his brothers David, Jimmy and Fred and sisters Wanda and Mary.
Visitation and prayer services will be held on Saturday, August 17 at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson. The family will receive guests from 2-4pm followed by prayer service.
