Amanda Brooke Tingler, a brilliant mind, a master of comedic timing, and a fiercely dedicated educator, has passed away at the age of 26.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Jay &Michelle Tingler; grandparents, Steve &Rita Green, Ronnie & Vicky Evans, and Ernie Hayes; uncles and aunts, Bryan &Whitney Burns, Bruce &Questa Tingler; and her beloved cousins, Lauren, Austyn, Jackson &Savannah. Great-aunts: Charlene & Penny. She also leaves behind dear friends, as well as her fellow faculty and students at Johnson High School.

She was preceded in death by her aunt Sheri Everett.

To know Amanda was to know someone who could solve a complex differential equation, tear through a 500-page novel in a single sitting, and make you laugh until your sides hurt-often all in the same afternoon.

Amanda's story began in Topeka, KS, where she was born, before her family moved to Midwest City, OK, where she spent the majority of her growing up, making memories and discovering her love for both books and equations.

Amanda's academic journey took her to the University of Central Oklahoma, where she graduated with a flawless 4.0 GPA and the well-deserved title of Class Marshal. While she held a deep appreciation for the absolute truths of mathematics, Amanda knew life was best lived with a little bit of chaos and a lot of laughter.

Recently, Amanda took a bold new step and relocated to Oakwood, Georgia, to officially pursue her dream teaching career at Johnson High School. As a math teacher, Amanda quickly became deeply loved by both her students and colleagues. She had a rare gift: she could convince a room full of teenagers that algebra was actually cool, or at the very least, keep them thoroughly entertained while they learned it. Her dedication to the kids didn't stop at the classroom door, either; if a student asked her to come to their soccer, football, or wrestling matches, Amanda was there in the stands cheering them on. She brought that same fierce support to her own family, rarely missing her cousins' ball games, where she became a favorite fixture among al the local "ball moms." Whether teaching, mentoring, or cheering from the sidelines, she showed up for the kids in her life with patience, humor, and an unwavering belief in their potential. Many times, Amanda was spotted in the stands grading papers, planning lessons, or working on her latest knitting project.

At any given time, Amanda was almost certainly lost in a book or 2 or 3. A voracious reader, she loved the power of a good story and was always ready with a book recommendation (or a vibrant debate about a plot twist).

Amanda's legacy lives on in the minds of the students she inspired, the pages of the books she loved, and the countless laughs she shared with her family, friends, and colleagues. She proved that you can be profoundly smart without ever taking yourself too seriously.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Johnson High School, 3305 Poplar Springs Rd, Oakwood, GA 30542.
