David Parr Obituary

David Parr, a lifelong resident of Athens, Georgia, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 38. Born and raised in the heart of Athens, David carried his hometown with him everywhere he went, deeply rooted in its community, its warmth, and its sense of connection.

David was known for his gentle spirit and his big, generous heart. He had a rare way of meeting people exactly where they were, without judgment. Forgiveness came naturally to him, and he always seemed to choose understanding over anger, compassion over distance. He believed in the goodness of people, even when it wasn’t obvious, and he had a quiet strength that made others feel safe, seen, and accepted.

Those who knew David remember his easy laugh, his steady presence, and the way he could brighten even the heaviest room without trying. He had a deep love for his family and never missed a chance to remind them of it. Whether through a simple message, a shared memory, or just being there when it mattered most, David showed love in consistent and meaningful ways.

David also had a reflective, thoughtful side. He appreciated life’s small moments, the comfort of familiar places, long conversations with people he trusted, and the peace found in simply being present. His kindness wasn’t performative; it was who he was at his core.

He is now reunited with his loved ones who passed before him: his father, James Wesley Parr Jr.; his grandparents, James Wesley Parr Sr., Kathryn Carolyn Burghoff, and Raymond Martin Burghoff; and his uncle, Christopher John Parr.

David is lovingly survived by his mother, Anita Angela Gries; his brothers, James Wesley Parr III (Kelly) and his twin, Andrew Parr (Ashley); and his sister, Mellisa Parr. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.

Though his time here was far too short, David’s impact will continue through the lives he touched, the love he gave freely, and the kindness he left behind in every corner of the hearts that knew him.
