Mary Clare (Milton) Godfrey

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson, Georgia, announces the death of Mary Clare Godfrey, age 69, of Braselton, Georgia , who passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Mrs. Godfrey was born in Rochester, New York, a daughter to the late Kirby Mitchell Milton Sr. and the late Mary Chase Shearer Smith. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of the Winder First Baptist Church, the Tri-Ettes of the Tri County Shrine Club and made beautiful hand stamp cards. She loved cats, both live and figurines, enjoyed travelling, and was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godfrey was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney James Godfrey and her son, Eric James Godfrey. 

Survivors include her daughter, Morgan Godfrey (Reno Deochan) of Stone Mountain, GA; sisters, Jill Milton (Bear Miles) of British Columbia, Canada, Elizabeth Yee (Clyde) of Naples, NY; brothers, Kirby Mitchell Milton Jr. (Nan), of Grand Lodge, Michigan, John Whitcomb Milton (Michelle Sherdian), of Courtown, Ireland; step-brothers, Michael Smith (Diane), of Bristol, New York, Timothy Smith (Ann), of Fishers, New York, Patrick Smith(Nina), of Naples, New York and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Chad Mantooth officiating.
