Mr. Benjamin Martin Obituary

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Benjamin Thomas “Tommy” Martin Jr. of Jefferson, Georgia.

Riding in a truck with Tommy Martin in the Metro Atlanta area, you would, no doubt, find yourself immersed in an education on all the sites, sidewalks and curbs he installed over the past 30 plus years. He was so proud of his company and the work they did. It is with great sadness we share that he passed away on March 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. Benjamin Thomas Martin, Jr. of Jefferson, GA was 58 years of age.

Tommy was born in Charleston, WV on June 19, 1965, to Emma Josephine Coffee Martin and Benjamin Thomas Martin, Sr. who have both passed on. He was sandwiched between his older sister, Cynthia Ann Vickers (Charleston, WV) and his baby brother, Steven David Martin, Sr. (who has passed on). As a boy you could find Tommy running or biking all over his childhood neighborhood, and as a teen he worked with his dad at the local Exxon station. Tommy attended George Washington High School in Charleston, WV and shortly after moved to Georgia, where he would spend the remainder of his life.

Tommy met the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Lloyd Martin in 1992 while they lived in the same apartment complex in Lilburn, GA. They had a brief courtship and were engaged after only 6 months. They exchanged vows at Little Gardens, a wedding venue in Lawrenceville, GA on October 30, 1993. The two recently celebrated 30 years together.

Having a family was very important to Tommy and his children meant the world to him. He and Beth welcomed Brooke Elise Martin on August 9, 1996, and Andrew Thomas Martin on May 25, 1998. Ironically, Brooke was due on Maw Maw Jo Martin’s birthday and Andrew was due on Grandmother Rachel Meador’s birthday, but it didn’t work out that way.

Tommy ‘s passion was the concrete industry where he prospered. He was very proud to be a small business owner with Action Concrete, Inc. pouring sidewalks and curbs. As the industry progressed over time, so did Tommy. He began installing pervious concrete flatwork which is highly porous and allows water to pass through. Tommy received his Master Craftsman Certification from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and owned Pervious Concrete Solutions, LLC for 8 years.

When time allowed, Tommy could be found hitting ball after ball on the golf course. And in the fall, you could always count on him rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs and the West Virginia Mountaineers every Saturday while talking smack to everyone else on social media. Tommy also enjoyed cooking. He loved to share his latest perfected Green Egg concoctions with friends and family, and his ribs would melt in your mouth!

Tommy made an impact on the lives of many, family, friends, and co-workers. He will be forever missed. Please join the family for his memorial on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jason Mincey officiating.  Please wear colors or sprit wear for the Georgia Bulldogs, or the West Virgina Mountaineers.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family’s meal train or to American Liver Foundation.
