It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Benny Mitchell, who left us peacefully on December 24, 2024. Benny, the son of Clyde and Lillie Mae Mitchell was a loving father to his three children: Caughey, Kellea, Lea, and his cherished nephew, Jeremy, who grew up with the family.
Ben was born in Union, South Carolina in 1943, and he moved to Atlanta where he attended college, began his career in IT at C&S National Bank, and started his family.
Ben was a quiet man of few words, but his love and dedication to his family spoke volumes. His presence was a comforting constant. His passion for life was evident in the things he loved, especially his classic Corvettes, which he cherished not just as cars, but as symbols of freedom and adventure.
Ben was particularly known for his famous BBQ sauce recipe that brought family and friends together for countless barbecues filled with laughter and love. As we remember Ben, we hold dear the memories of his unwavering love, quiet wisdom, and the warmth he brought into everyones lives. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Ben is survived by his children, Caughey, Kellea, Lea, his nephew Jeremy, and all those who were fortunate enough to call him family or a friend.
In his honor, we invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his life soon at his daughter, Lea's house. Let us come together to share stories, reminisce, and keep his spirit alive in our hearts. Details will be shared at a future time.
In accordance with the wishes of Mr. Mitchell, his remains will be cremated and placed alongside those of his wife in the Cremation Columbarium at Evans Memory Gardens.
