Mr. Billy Harold Peoples

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Billy Harold Peoples, age 92, of Jefferson, Georgia who was born in Gaskin, Florida, on December 9, 1933, entered rest Monday, June 29, 2026. He married Baudelia, the love of his life in Pacific Grove, California on March 2, 1957. Billy was a retired /disabled Army veteran of 23 years who served his country from 1953 to 1975 as a Cartographer (Map Maker).

Upon his retirement, he became a nationally known trophy bass fishing guide in the Palatka, Florida area and was very active in the Parrothead community (Jimmy Buffett fan clubs), where he was very active in several clubs and was president of the club in Melrose, Florida, and was a lifetime member of the Flagler Beach Parrothead Club. He was fondly called "The Old Parrothead."

Mr. Peoples entered into military service at Ft. Belvoir, VA, and had tours of duty in Korea, Japan, Hawaii and several stateside locations. Retired at Ft. Belvoir in the same classroom going from Private to officer in charge – Chief Warrant Officer. He received the Joint Services and Army Commendations Medals and was the recipient of several other medals and honors including the Alabama Commendation Medal for his work with the Alabama National Guard.

His wife, Baudelia (Buddy) of 65 years preceded him death in 2022. Two sons, Richard (deceased in 2019) and his wife Renee of Whittier, NC and Thomas and his wife Kay of Jefferson, GA. Five grandchildren, Sarah, William, Andrew, Daniel and Rebecca and nine great grand children, also survive.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Mr. Allen Vickery officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations should be made to the Jackson County Senior Center, 151 Stan Evans Drive, Jefferson, GA 30549.
