Mr. Billy James Sexton

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Billy James Sexton, age 86 of Gainesville, Georgia who entered rest Tuesday, June 4, 2024.  Mr. Sexton was born in Pendergrass, Georgia a son of the late Rafe and Ruth Mote Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Belmont Baptist Church and was retired from Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions after twenty eight years of service.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sexton is preceded by two sisters, Agnes Davidson, and Martha Reynolds.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Helen Griffin Sexton of Gainesville.  Two sons, Stephen Sexton (Leah) of Gainesville, Brian Sexton (Denise) of Gainesville.  Two brothers, Bobby Sexton (Guyrene) of Gainesville and Jimmy Sexton of Jefferson.  Grandcchildren, Stewart Sexton (Samantha), Shannon Sexton (Heather), Faith Sexton, Bryson Sexton, Casey Barron (Denny).  Four great grandchildren and one step great grandchild also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 6, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Sexton and Reverend Bill Compton officiating with burial at Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Tracey Sexton officiating.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Stewart Sexton, Shannon Sexton, Trent Sexton, Jeff Davidson, Stacey McClure and Jared McDougle.  Bryson Sexton will be an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00  and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home.
