Mr. Brian Sidney Sturdy

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Brian Sidney Frederick Sturdy, age 90, recently of Jefferson, Georgia.  He passed away on Sunday, April 12th, 2026.  Mr. Sturdy was born in Camberwell, England, son of the late Sidney George Sturdy and the late Elizabeth Hoskins Sturdy, both of England.  Mr. Sturdy served in the Royal Air Force and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He worked for Marconi Avionics, the company that moved Brian, his wife and three children to Fort Worth, Texas in 1967.  In the summers, he took the family on trips to see various places in the United States.  In 1974, Marconi moved Brian to Georgia.  After retirement from Marconi, Mr. Sturdy followed his passion in farming and started his own farm in Dawsonville, and then Dahlonega, Georgia.  He raised a variety of animals including Cows, Pigs, goats, and chickens.  Brian was rarely seen without his beloved dogs by his side.  

Mr. Sturdy was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, June Winifred Jackson Sturdy.

Mr. Sturdy is survived by his children, Julie Smith and her husband Chris of Patterson, GA, Wendy Alexander and her husband Gerald of Dahlonega, GA, Rodney and Christine Sturdy of Jefferson, GA; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Qaishun) Rivers, Holly (Jason) Gabb-Hammond, Cale (Kat) Roper, Cindy (Brad) O’Neal. Nick (Miranda) Sturdy, and Tim (Katherine) Watkins; eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Mobley officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
