Mr. Charles Oewel Moore

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Charles Oewel Moore, age 84, of Maysville, Georgia who entered rest Thursday May 16, 2024. Mr. Moore was born in Wytheville, Virginia the son of the late Brent Moore Sr. and the late Jane Oewel Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lea Brown Moore in 2020, son, Charles Ross Moore in 1981,and two brothers, Towson Moore in 2020 and Brent Moore, Jr., in 2024.

Mr. Moore graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1960, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he served in the military taking a convoy to Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  After the military, he started work as an engineer for Eastman Kodak in Kingsport, Tennessee.  Upon the passing of his father he returned to Wytheville and along side his brother Brent, they ran the family farm and business.  (Wythe Lumber Company).  He loved God, spending time with family, friends and neighbors, telling stories about events in his life.  He loved sports, reading and later in life playing Bridge.

Survivors include his son, Scott Moore (wife, Beth) of Maysville, GA and two grandchildren, Anna and Sarah Moore.

In accordance with Mr. Moore’s wishes he will be cremated and no services will be held.
