Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. David L. Hinson, age 89, of Jefferson, Georgia (formerly of Spartanburg, South Carolina) who entered rest Monday May 22, 2023. Mr. Hinson was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina the son of the late Bud S. Hinson and the late Annie Ruth Baxley Hinson and was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Hinson was a retired Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War as a boiler technician. He loved anything to do with the history of wars, reading any books that he could find, loved hunting and fishing, and watching the South Carolina Gamecocks football team. Mr. Hinson was of the Protestant Faith.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Emmalene Davis Hinson of Jefferson, GA. Son, Brian Hinson (Teresa) of Jefferson, GA. Foster child, Lloyd A. O’ree (Tracey) of Mauldin, S.C. Four grandchildren, Allyson Sanchez (Drew) of Norcross, GA, Ashly Hinson and Andrew Hinson both of Jefferson, GA and Kelsey O’ree of Mauldin, S.C.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 P.M. Wednesday June 7, 2023 at North Spartanburg Church of God 2069 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303 with Pastor Randall Lewis officiating. Family will receive friends after the service.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday June 8, 2023 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, S.C. 29229 with Pastor Randall Lewis officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Family will meet at the cemetery at 1:30 P.M.
