Mr. David Carl Torrey

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. David Carl Torrey, age 72 of Commerce, Georgia who entered rest Saturday, May 23, 2026.  Mr. Torrey was born in Dunkirk, New York, a the son of the late Donald Lee Torrey and the late Nancy Lou Tyrrel Torrey.  Mr. Torrey attended Hoschton Baptist Church, Volunteered at the Winder VA Center, IServ Ministries, and the Jackson Trail Fire Department. Mr. Torrey loved the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Braves and University of Georgia Sports Teams, but most of all loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mr. Torrey was retired from Shilo Industries.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Torrey is preceded by a son, Jason Edwards Torrey.

Survivors include his wife Mailene Carence’ Carlson Torrey.  Daughter, Carence Burks (Mark) of Commerce.  Five grandchildren, Austin Burks (Megan) of Hoschton, Michael Burks (Daniele) of Decatur, IL., Emily Burks (Fiance Brayden Harper) of Commerce, Lexi Torrey and Lily Torry of Hoschton.  Two great-great grandchildren, Autumn Burks and Johnny Burks.  Two sisters, Diane Torrey and Ruth Paden (Ron) of Dunkirk, NY.  

Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Mr. Tony Thompson officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the beginning of the service 1:00 – 2:00 at Evans Funeral Home.
