Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Dorsey Clay Holmes, age 83, of Hoschton, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Mr. Holmes was born in Jefferson, Georgia, a son to the late Clarence and Mary Lou Murray Holmes. Mr. Holmes worked in the maintenance department for the Barrow County Board of Education, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophesy in Hoschton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holmes is preceded in death by his sister, Shelby Griffin and brother, Arthur Holmes.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Franklin Holmes of Hoschton; son, Thomas Holmes and his wife Rhonda of Winder, daughter, Darlene Tanner and her husband Robert of Winder, son, Scottie Holmes and his wife Kay of Bogart, daughter, Cindy Browning and her husband Eric of Hoschton; brother, James Holmes of Statham; seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.
In accordance with Mr. Holmes wishes, his remains were cremated and no services are planned at this time.
