Mr. Freddie Gerald Roberts

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Freddie Gerald Roberts, age 77, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, December 7, 2025. Mr. Roberts was born in Commerce, Georgia, the son of the late Ralph Roberts and the late Louise “Nannie” Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Duke and a brother, Jeff Roberts.

Mr. Roberts retired as an Mechanical engineer with Major Tooling. He graduated from North Georgia Tech in 1968 and went to work at General Tooling in Chamblee, Georgia. He designed and built automotive tools and dies for the big 3 auto makers, at the time, including his first big design project in 1969. He designed the grille for the new ‘70 Ford Thunderbird. After retirement, he continued to do “free hand” lettering on race cars, signs and for local businesses. In his spare time, Freddie loved the Waffle House, his cats, visiting car shows and swap meets.

Survivors include two daughters, Alisa Sorrow (Shane) of Commerce, GA and Julie Fletcher (Pat) of Pendergrass, GA. Seven grandchildren, Chase Adams (Katie) of Gainesville, GA, Carlin Adams of Gainesville, GA, Cooper Adams (Chelsea) of Gainesville, GA and Cope Fletcher of Pendergrass, GA, Lane Sorrow of Commerce, GA, Logan Sorrow of Washington, DC and Lincoln Sorrow of Jefferson, GA, Five great grandchildren, Amelia Adams, Hattie Adams, Forrest Adams, Nolen Adams and Nova Adams. Sister, Karen Hemphill (Ricky) of Jefferson, GA. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

The family is planning a celebration of life service later and will receive friends and family on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shannon Veterinary Services in memory of Freddie Roberts, 1125 Storey Lane, Jefferson, GA 30549.
