Mr. Howard Russell Willis

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Howard Russell Willis, age 90 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Thursday, June 24, 2026.  Mr. Willis was born in Carnesville, Georgia a son of the late Willie and Eunice Whitworth Willis.  Mr. Willis was a member of Academy Baptist Church and was retired from Jefferson Mills with fifty-four years of service.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Willis is preceded by sons, Don and Kenny Willis, great grandson, Gannin McDaniel and a brother, Joel Willis.

Survivors include his wife Jane Stewart Willis of Jefferson.  Three sons, Ray Pursley (Nicole) of Jefferson, Johnny Pursley (Lori) of Lavonia, and Dave Pursley (Jillian) of Galivants, South Carolina.  Fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild along with a sister Margaret Yeomans of Jefferson also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Shelton officiating with burial to follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, Georgia.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Ray Pursley, David Pursley, Johnny Pursley, Alijah Pursley, Cole Pursley and Jarrett Pursley.  The family will receive friends 11:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service.
