Mr. James Stryker Obituary

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James Norman Stryker, age 81, of Maysville, Georgia, who passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Mr. Stryker was born in Oak Park, Illinois, a son to the late Norman and Mary Stryker. Mr. Stryker was in law enforcement serving as a police officer, a detective and as chief of police in Basalt, Colorado, for thirty years.

Survivors include his daughters, Vicki Whitmire and her husband Wendell of Jefferson; Susan O’Rourke and her husband Patrick of Germany; grandchildren, Billy Whitmire and his wife Estefany, Nicholas Whitmire and his wife Crystal, Samantha O’Rourke; great grandchildren, Aria Whitmire and Emma Whitmire also survive.

In accordance with Mr. Stryker’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and no services will be held.

The family would like give a special thank you the staff and family at Brookside in Commerce, Georgia, for the wonderful care they gave to “Pops”.
