Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James Mike Venable, age 85 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Augusta, Georgia after a long illness. Mr. Venable was born in Copperhill, Tennessee a son of the late Ralph and Martha Farmer Venable. Mr. Venable was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Venable was a retired GM Mechanic and owner and operator of a Jewelry Store. Mike loved football, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his spouse, Annette Venable, his brother, Ken Venable. Six children, Janese Anderson, Paige Venable, Jill Morrison, Jeffrey Venable, Jeremy Venable and Joshua Venable. Several granchildren, great grandchildren and many other family members and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service, 2:00 – 2:30 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1832 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, Georgia at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. James Mike Venable to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at www.st.jude.org or to any Veterans Organization.
