Mr. James Marion "Jimmy" Williams III

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James Marion “Jimmy” Williams III, age 63 of Athens, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Mr. Williams was born on February 26, 1963 in Buford, Georgia, the son to the late James Marion Williams Jr. and the late Sara Luke Williams. Mr. Williams was a licensed funeral director, who enjoyed many years working with his family at Tapp Funeral Home in Buford, Georgia, which they owned and operated. He loved his family, children and adored his grandchildren. He was a sports fan, supporting the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, Hawks and Braves.  Jimmy stayed young at heart and loved to go hang out with his buddies at numerous different restaurants around Athens. His favorite restaurant was Dos Palmas Mexican Grill, where he called the staff his second family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wiliams was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Williams House and his brother in law, James “Jimmy” House. 

Survivors include children, Krystal West and her husband Nick of Braselton, Jamie Williams of Pendergrass and Jake Williams of Statham; sisters, Jane Williams Boggus and her husband Benny of Bowdon; Ann Inouye of Buford; grandchildren, Parks West and Bradee West; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

In accordance with Mr. Williams’s wishes, his remains were cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
