Mr. Jerry Gene Googe

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Jerry Gene Googe, age 85, of Hoschton, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Mr. Googe was born on September 24, 1940 in Allendale, South Carolina, a son to the late Willie Lee Googe and the late Virgie Lee Davis Googe. Mr. Googe was retired from Raytheon, where he was a project manager, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving for eight years. Mr. Googe was an avid golfer and loved to be near the water or on the beach. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, sports, Motown music, and Pepsi-Cola. Jerry was happiest when he was with his children and family, and was a wonderful “Grandpop” to his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Googe was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Douglas and Willie Lou Moore and his brother, William Googe.

Survivors include his children, Kevin Googe and his wife Jayne of Summerville, SC, Kimberly Van Buren and her husband Sean of Flowery Branch, GA, Lindsay Allen and her husband Adam of Jefferson, GA; grandchildren, Jessica, Casey, Molly, Benjamin and Charley; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Googe’s remains were cremated and a private family service will be held on a later date.
