Mr. Jerry Wayne Welch

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Jerry Wayne Welch, age 73, of Gainesville, Georgia who entered rest Thursday March 7, 2023. Mr. Welch was born in Gainesville, Georgia the son of the late Charlie Welch and the late Clara Bell Prather Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deah by a brother, Johnny Welch.

Mr. Welch worked for Fieldale Farms in the maintenance department. Mr. Welch also loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Velinda Lue Jones of Gainesville, GA. Two daughters, Rebecca Harris (husband, John) and Lisa McHugh (husband, Chris). Six grandchildren, Brian McHugh, Alisha Chavez, Megan McHugh, Haley Harris, Hannah Harris and Heather Shaw. Four great grandchildren, Logan McHugh, Autumn Williams, Jayden Shaw and James Shaw. Two sisters, Janie Boggus and Dianne Ivey. One brother, Donnie Welch. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In accordance to Mr. Welch’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
