Mr. Jim Burton

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Jim Burton, age 84 of Maysville, Georgia who entered rest Wednesday, April 2, 2025.  Mr. Burton was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, a son of the late Albert James Burton, Sr. and the late Leatha Pearl Garret Burton.  Mr. Burton retired from AT&T after twenty years and upon retirement he founded and operated Jefferson Custom Cabinets for twenty six years.  Mr. Burton was a Master Cabinet Maker and his work graces many homes and offices throughout the area.  Mr. Burton was a member of Apple Valley Baptist Church, and a Veteran of the the U.S. Air Force.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Burton is preceded by ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Martha Ellen Bowman Burton.  Children; Brian James Burton (Tricia), Elena Golden (Vince Eget) and Belinda Nichols.  Sister, Wanda Burton Caudill.  Grandchildren, Tyler Durden (Jessica), Benjamin Golden (Charleny), Austin Golden (Sarah), Hannah Oliver (Clayton), Tanner Burton and Ainsley Burton.  Great grandchildren; Griffin Durden, Garrett Durden, Gauge Durden, Gwen Durden, Caroline Golden, Bennett Oliver, Annelise Golden, and Hudson Golden.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 5, 2025 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral with Reverend Gary Thompson officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens.  Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Brian Burton, Tyler Durden, Benjamin Golden, Griffin Durden, Clayton Oliver, and Alan Bowman. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.
