Mr. John Hayword Eckert

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. John Hayward Eckert, age 87, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Mr. Eckert was born in Rifton, New York, a son to the late Hayward and Ann Kappel Eckert. Mr. Eckert was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, serving in the Korea and Vietnam wars. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eckert was preceded in death by a grandchild, Joshua Vauiso and a brother, Richard Eckert.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jane Smith Eckert of Jefferson; daughter, Katina Vauiso and her husband David of Orlando, Florida; son, William Scott Eckert and his wife Catherine of Jefferson; grandchildren, Sarah Vauiso, Megan Bahtijaragic and Joseph Eckert; six great grandchildren and his brother, Robert Eckert also survives.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceville, Georgia, with military honors.
