Mr. John Michael Matzko

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. John Michael Matzko, age 87, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Mr. Matzko was born in Williamstown, Pennsylvania, a son to the late Michael and Mary Maziscko Matzko. Mr. Matzko was retired from Specialty Computer where he was a Systems Engineer.  John was a 4 year veteran of the Air Force and had a strong spirit of volunteerism toward our four legged friends.  

Survivors include his wife, Paula Lynne Serenko Matzko of Jefferson, GA; sister, Margaret M. Matzko of Athens, Ga.;  brother, Carl E. Mattson of Loxley, Al. and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Mr. Matzko’s wishes, his body was cremated and no services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of John Matzko, may be made to the Humane Society of Jackson County, PO Box 567, Jefferson, GA 30549.
