Mr. John Towner Rowell, Jr.

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. John Towner Rowell, Jr. age 81, of Jefferson, Georgia who passed away following a lengthy illness, Friday July 3, 2026. Mr. Rowell was born in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late John Towner Rowell, Sr. and the late Slyvia Mae Jaswick Rowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Paulini.

Mr. Rowell was President of Select Health Plans, working along with his wife. He was a member of North Metro Baptist Church and outside of his profession, John will be remembered by his passion for fishing and playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Gail H. Rowell. Two daughters, Gina Michelle Garland (Bryant) of Oxford, GA and Tina Darlene Merold (Mike) of Blue Ridge, GA. Sister, Judi Dyess of Mobile, AL. Five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren  and one on the way.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 9, 2026 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until time of service at 6:00 P.M.
