Mr. Lionel Charles Martel

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Lionel Charles Martel, age 92, of Jefferson, who passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Mr. Martel was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, a son to the late Avila J., and Zelia Savard Martel. He was a retired manufacturing engineering manager for General Electric Company, an Army veteran , and a member of the St. Catherine’s Labouré Catholic Church of Jefferson Ga. He was an avid woodworker, and nature enthusiast who loved to travel with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martel was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne LaRochelle Martel: daughter, Susan Sharpe of Schertz, Texas; his sister, Irene LaRochelle; and brothers, Roland Martel and Roger Martel.

Survivors include his children, Mary Martel of Oregon City, OR, Katherine Boyd and her husband Spencer of Maysville, Paul Martel and his wife Cynthia of Ludington, MI., Pauline Villagomez, and her husband Jaime of Jefferson, son-in-law Chris Sharpe of Schertz, Texas; brother, Leo Martel of Raymond, NH; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the St. Catherine’s Labouré Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Catherine’s Labouré Catholic Church prior to the service on Monday. A burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens.
