Mr. Merel Eddie Dalton

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Merel Eddie Dalton, age 76, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Mr. Dalton was born in Royston, Georgia, a son to the late Avery and Viola Skinner Dalton. Mr. Dalton worked in the maintenance department at the University of Georgia as a painter and owned and operated a house painting business as well. Mr. Dalton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, and was Bronze Star recipient while serving in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Diane Hayes Dalton and two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Brandy Dalton of Jefferson; son, Jason Dalton and his wife Lacey of Jefferson; sisters, Margie Fitzpatrick of Danielsville, Angie Hernandez of Gainesville and Norma Cromer of South Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. David Sharpton officiating. The burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens.

The visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home.
