Mr. Mickey Allen Burk

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Mickey Allen Burk, age 61, of Jefferson, Georgia, previously of Tucker, GA, who passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 after a short illness.

Mr. Burk was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, a son to the late Fred and Margaret Burk. 

Mr. Burk was a member of the Class of 1978 of Terre Haute North High School where he served as Class President his sophomore and senior years and became a lifelong friend to many classmates. During high school and after, he worked as a radio deejay at local Terre Haute Radio Stations including WBOW. His radio show, “Mickey in the Mornings” was popular among Terre Haute and Midwest residents.

He was a 1994 graduate of Indiana State University with a B.S. in Sports Management. He also worked at ISU as the Assistant Athletic Director while pursuing his degree. 

Mickey always had a joke and a smile for everyone he knew and met. He always said to his wife, Amy, that he wanted more time to do the things he wanted to, “once he found them,” the line from Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle.” He and Amy shared 15 years of love and laughter together.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Carver Burk of Jefferson, GA; sister, Linda Burkett of Waco, TX; brothers, Tony and Kenny Burk and their families of Terre Haute, IN; niece, Halea Burk Hoffert of Terre Haute, IN; and a friend who was like a daughter to him, Nimmisha Patel of Stone Mountain, GA.

Celebration of Life services for Mickey will be held on a later date, both in the Atlanta area and in Terre Haute.
