Mrs. Lucy Ann Vaughn Asbury passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. She was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on August 29, 1934 and was the daughter of Ben W. Vaughn and Ruby Steele Vaughn. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family devotion that will continue to live on through all who knew her. A devoted wife for 71 wonderful years, Ann cherished her husband and family and built a life rooted in love, commitment, and partnership.
Ann was a star basketball player at Oglethorpe County High School. She met her husband, Henry, while working at the Farmers Bank in Union Point, Georgia. They were married on November 14, 1954.
She loved the Lord and her faith guided her life. She and her husband were longtime members of Galilee Christian Church.
Ann devoted her life to being a wonderful homemaker, always arising early to ensure her husband and kids received a great start to their day. Her strong faith and family meant everything to her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose greatest joy came from time spent surrounded by those she loved. Her wisdom, kindness, sense of humor, resilience and unconditional love were a source of strength and comfort to her family.
Ann is survived by her daughter Kathy Asbury Holloway (Mike) of Jefferson, GA, two sons William H. “Bill” Asbury (Lori) of Knoxville, TN, and Tracy W. Asbury (Amy) of Grayson, GA; three grandsons Michael Powell (Jennifer) of Suwanee, GA, Chris Holloway (Holly) of Maysville, GA, and Jayden Asbury of Grayson, GA, two granddaughters Jenna Asbury of Grayson, GA, and Morgan Pritchett (Caleb) of Cornelia, GA; six great grandsons Ethan Banan, Zach Hall, Camden Powell, Cannon Holloway, Carson Holloway, and Memphis Pritchett, a great granddaughter Ava Hall; sister, Nancy Parker of Snellville, GA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Asbury; sister, Mildred Greenwood, and brother, Benjamin Vaughn.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Mrs. Asbury’s caregivers: Janice Pierce (who has become family), Amada Senior Care, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice – Emily Arnold, RN, Ashley Dunwoody, RN, and Dr. Mary Keith, and the Intermediate Care Unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following: Galilee Christian Church, Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Samaritan’s Purse or the charity of your choice .
Funeral services will be held 6:00 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Nick Vipperman officiating. Burial will be Friday March 13, 2026 at 11:30 A.M. in Woodville Cemetery, Woodville, Georgia. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home.
