Mrs. Barbara Nell (Hayes) Phillips

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Barbara Nell Phillips, age 78, of Trenton, Georgia who entered rest Monday April 24, 2023. Mrs. Phillips was born in Buford, Georgia the daughter of the late Luther Hayes and Mildred Ivey Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laird Phillips and two brothers, Winford Hayes and Quinton Hayes.

Mrs. Phillips worked for eighteen years as a school bus driver for Barrow County, Gwinnett County and Jackson County. She was of the Baptist Faith but most of all she loved her animals and her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Cantrell (James) of Trenton, GA and Tammie Key of Statham, GA. Son, James Key of Homer, GA. Seven grandchildren, Shawn Murdock (Jessica) of Winder, GA, Russ Griffin (Heather) of Jefferson, GA, Corey Griffin of Trenton, GA, Amanda Stinchcomb (Cody) of Winder, GA, Amber Murdock of Trenton, GA, Ashton Butler of Statham, GA and Jessica Butler of Statham, GA.  Thirteen great grandchildren. Sister, Phyllis Cooper of Jackson County, GA. Brother, Travis Hayes of Jefferson, GA. Sister-in-law, Betty Hayes of Braselton, GA. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday April 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Peek officiating. Burial will follow at Buford City Cemetery, Buford, GA. Honored to be pallbearers are Shawn Murdock, Corey Griffin, Russ Griffin, Trentin Murdock, Cayson Stinchcomb and Scott Bratcher. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
