Mrs. Carole Venable (Hart) Wilkes

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Carole Hart Venable Wilkes, age 78, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Monday December 29, 2025. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Commerce, Georgia the daughter to the late Hugh Hart and the late Louise Pace Hart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Wayne “Doc” Venable, her second husband, Henley Broughton Wilkes and a brother, Larry Hart.

Mrs. Wilkes retired as a seamstress. She loved to work in her garden, working with her flowers. She enjoyed traveling, going shopping but most of all taking pictures of her grandchildren gave her the most joy. Mrs. Wilkes was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Cooper (Dwight) of Jefferson, GA and a son, John Wayne Venable (Rebecca) of Jefferson, GA. Two grandchildren, Steven Cooper (Carly) and Cindy Cooper both of Jefferson, GA. One great grandchild, Jettson Wayne Cooper. Sister, Peggy Evans (Grant) of Rome, GA and a brother, Danny Hart (Lynn) of Commerce, GA also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 2, 2026  at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
