Mrs. Deborah "Nana Deb" Gooch

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Deborah “Nana Deb” Gooch, age 67 of Nicholson, Georgia who entered into rest on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Nana Deb, as she was affectionally known, was born in Winder, Georgia to the late Sanford Phillips and the late Frances Lee, and she was also preceded by her stepfather, Frank Lee. Mrs. Gooch was a member of the Peoples Baptist Church in Jefferson and worked at Carol’s Country Cupboard in Nicholson where she loved preparing delicious food for many beloved customers. One of her favorite things to do was to make others happy through their tastebuds, especially her family.

Survivors include her husband, James Melvin Gooch of Nicholson. Daughter, Amy Gooch Adams of Nicholson. Son, Mel Gooch (Kari) of Nicholson. Grandchildren, Reeves Gooch, Gavyn Nesmith, Makayla Dillow (Lawton), Mac Erickson, Maddie Gooch and Mallory Gooch. Mother-in-law, Jean Gooch of Nicholson. Sisters, Charlotte Phillips of Hoschton and Trisha Gooch of Hoschton. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, with a burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens. Reverend Chris Yancey will officiate the services. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Larry Gooch, Jr., Greg Reidling, Lawton Dillow, Kevin Owensby, Mac Erickson, Gavyn Nesmith, Reeves Gooch and Stephen Beauchamp. The family will receive friends from 6:00– 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home.
