Mrs. Elaine (Campbell) Jeffer

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Ms. Rhea Elaine Campbell Jeffer, age 79 of Jefferson, Georgia who passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024 surrounded by her family.  Ms. Jeffer was born in Brownsville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ray Northern and Rebecca Houchins Campbell.  Ms. Jeffer was of the Methodist Faith and was a retired Supervisor with the Department of Family and Children’s Services.  Elaine (Lainey) was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was a wonderful friend, from a phone chat to a hug she was always willing to listen and not stand in judgement.  She was a good cook with so many holiday specialties including her delicious bourbon balls.  She was a voracious reader and excellent student graduating Suma Cum Laude from The University of Georgia in 1992.   She was dedicated to her position with DFACS and made a difference in countless lives.  Elaine was a merrymaker, she was always up for a celebration and loved to dance.  Elaine will be missed by the many people she touched with her kindness, keen listening and good conversation.  

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jeffer was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Campbell and brother, Kerry Lee Campbell and step-mother Mary May Campbell.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Jeffer Allen and her husband Dennis of Jefferson, son, James Jeffer II and his wife Cassandra of Carlton; three grandchildren, Sabrina McGreevy and husband Colin, Benjamin Jeffer, and Kole Allen; sister, Donna Tolle of Louisville, Kentucky, two brothers, Robert Campbell and his wife Ginny of Hull and Royce Campbell and his wife Cathy of Georgetown, Indiana, step-sister Judy May.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the Revival Hall Meeting Room, 16 South Public Square, Jefferson, GA 30549.
