Mrs. Jean L. (Berryman) Wood

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Jean L. Berryman Wood, age 79, of Martin, Georgia who entered rest Monday, August 11, 2025. Mrs. Wood was born in Hoschton, Georgia the daughter of the late Lamar “Berry” Berryman and the late Margie McEver Berryman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Wood and a son, James L. “Jimmy” Wood. 

Mrs. Wood worked for Warren and Featherbone as an inspector. She was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church, loved to work puzzles, read and garden. Most of all, she loved her children and all her grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Susan K. Gee of Carnesville, GA. Son, Bryan T. Wood (Trudy) of Comer, GA. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two sisters, Andrea Craft (Lewis) of Winder, GA and Charlene Wilkins of Hoschton, GA. Daughter-in-law, Tammy Wood of Martin, GA. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 15, 2025 from Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ferrel Wilkins and Reverend David Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 14, 2025 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
