Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson shares with sadness the passing of Mrs. Joan Marie Maciag, 84, of Jefferson, Georgia, who left this world peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Joan was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Verona Armstrong Brancato. She spent her working years at Publix Grocery in the Deli, where she no doubt touched many lives with her presence. In her personal time, Joan found joy in the simple pleasures — curling up with a good book and staying connected with friends at the Jackson County Senior Center. She is reunited now with her beloved husband, Joseph Maciag, who preceded her in death, as did her parents.
Joan leaves behind a family who clearly meant the world to her. She is lovingly survived by her sons, Mark Lomauro and his wife Debra of Randolph, NJ; Troy Lomauro and his wife Ruth of New Jersey; Todd Lomauro and his wife Eleanor of Delaware; and Cord Lomauro and his wife Lisa of Florida. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Cortney Gaddis of Jefferson, GA; Garrett Lomauro of Randolph, NJ; Richard Lomauro and his wife Alyssa of South Carolina; Cory Lomauro of New Jersey; Brent Lomauro of Delaware; and Lake Lomauro of Florida.
Honoring Joan's own wishes, her remains have been cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
