Mrs. Joyce (Austin) Long

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Joyce Long, age 82, of Gillsville, GA, formerly of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Mrs. Long was born in Jackson County, Georgia, a daughter to the late Pellam and Rozelle Butler Austin. Mrs. Long was a monitor with the Jefferson County School System and was a member of the Living Word Worship Center. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Long, brothers, Homer Lee Austin, Randall Austin, John Austin and Blanton Austin.

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Parks and her husband Ken of Lula; grandchildren, Amy (Westly) Griffin, Abby (Peter) Adams, Thomas Parks and Todd (Courtney) Parks; Nine Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at  11:00 am with Reverend Roger Hardy  officiating. The burial will follow in the Woodbine Cemeterty in Jefferson with Peter Adams, Thomas Parks, Todd Parks, Westly Griffin, Mark Austin and Scott Hudson honored as pallbearers.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2027 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Evans Funeral Home.
