Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Jurell “Judy” Wood Tate, age 88 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Monday, November 17, 2025. Mrs. Tate was born in Jefferson, Georgia a daughter of the late James
Frank Wood and the late Reba Huntsinger Wood. Mrs. Tate was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from Garden Smith Nurseries. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate is preceded by her husband, George Perry Tate and brothers, Wayne Wood, James Marshall Wood, and Larry Wood. Sister, Kay Underwood and grandson, Thomas “Bubba” Tatum.
Survivors include two sons, James P. Tate (Karen) of Toccoa, George F. Tate (Sherrie) of Opelika, Alabama. Three daughters, Donna Tatum of Bessimer, Alabama, Vanessa A. Craft (Ricky) of Opelika, Alabama, and Jennifer L. Clark (Brian) of Jefferson. Special daughter, Marthalene Logan of Florida. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 21, 2025 at Woodbine Cemetery with Reverend Tim Skelton officiating. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Briain Clark, Darrin Dalrymple, Ricky Craft, Allan Craft, Justin Craft and Austin Tate. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
