Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Karen Cox Ragan, age 69 of Maysville, Georgia (Plainview Community) who entered rest Saturday, October 25, 2025. Mrs. Ragan was born in Clarkesville, Georgia a daughter of the late Kary Clifford Cox and Louise Sims Cox of Sautee, Georgia. Mrs. Ragan was a homemaker and a member of Foundation Church of Jackson County (Formerly Center Grove Baptist Church) and was a Certified First Responder. Mrs. Ragan had a servant’s heart that she abundantly shared within her community and loved spending memorable time with her grandchildren. In addition to her father, Mrs. Ragan is preceded by her father in law, Lester Monroe Ragan.
Survivors in addition to her mother are her husband of fifty one years, Randy Ragan of Maysville. Daughters, Melinda Ragan Barnes (Mike) of Maysville, and Carey Ragan Elliott (Richie) of Talmo. Grandchildren; Trae Elliott, Silas Elliott, Jacob Barnes, Callie Barnes and Andrew Barnes. Brother, Clifford Cox (Janet) of Sautee. Three sisters, Doris Brown (Carlton) of Manassas, Virginia, Connie Martin (Jimmy) of Gainesville, and Catherine Church (Brian) of Cleveland. Mother in Law, Joann Ragan of Maysville and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Foundation Church of Jackson County (Formerly Center Grove Baptist Church) with Reverend Storey Tate and Reverend Matt McCoy officiating with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state in the Church 2:30 – 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Ricky Sanders, Mark Adams, Luke McCoy, Burt Sanders, Daniel Brown, David (Dee) Chambers, Corban Sizemore, and Cameron Sizemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Trae Elliott, Silas Elliott, Jacob Barnes, Callie Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Matt Adams, and Marty Adams. The family will receive friends 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025.
