Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Maggie Duffel Patterson McClain, age 94 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Friday, May 1, 2026. Mrs. McClain was born in Madison, Georgia a daughter of the late Horace and Lera Christian Duffel. Mrs. McClain was a homemaker, a member of Victory Baptist Church and was a loving mother, mother in law and grandmother who was affectionally known as “Nanny” by her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McClain was preceded by her late husband and father of her children, M.J. Patterson, husband Walter McClain. Sons, Danny “Dino”, Mike and Jimbo Patterson. Sisters, Rea Smith, Glennie Brookshire and Dale Turner. Brothers, Grady, Horace “Tug”, Willie and Alan Duffel.
Survivors include a son, Steve Patterson (Lynn) of Toccoa, Daughter In Law, Angela Patterson of Jefferson. Ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Swayne Cochran officiating with burial to follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, Georgia. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Major Patterson, Levi Patterson, Josiah Patterson, Jeremiah Patterson, Wesley Butler and Justin Clark. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday, 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
