Mrs. Mary Ellen (Wilhite) McClure

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Mary Ellen McClure, age 85, of Maysville, Georgia who entered rest Sunday July 5, 2026. Mrs. McClure was born in Jefferson, Georgia the daughter to the late Hubert Alton Wilhite and the late Molly Christine Nunn Wilhite. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Edwin McClure and a brother, James C. Wilhite.

Mrs. McClure dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker and worked alongside them on the family farm.  She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cats and dogs.  Known for her wonderful cooking and generous spirit, Mary Ellen made sure everyone who entered her home felt welcomed, cared for, and well-fed.  She was a faithful member of Unity Christian Church, where her kindness and devotion reflected her strong faith.

Survivors include her son, Charles A. “Chuck” McClure (Carla) of Moultrie, GA. Grandsons, Ched McClure (Melanie) of Moultrie, GA and Charlie McClure (Craigan) of Maysville, GA, Ethan Roberts (Tarryn) of Lula, GA, Granddaughter Alison Shockley (Josh) of Maysville GA. Ten great grandchildren, Camden and Molly McClure ,Wil, J.T. and Coy McClure, Dalton, Aubrey, and Sophia Shockley, Trevor and Holly Kate Roberts.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 8, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Ray officiating with burial to follow in Evans Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home. Honored as pallbearers are Ched McClure, Charlie McClure, Ethan Roberts, Marshall Varnum, Jason Hensley and Josh Shockley. Honorary pallbearers will be Burt Sanders and Ricky “Gus” Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Jackson County
