Mrs. Mary Jane Cram Obituary

Mary Jane Osgood (Solie) Cram passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, following an extended illness. Mary Jane was born to Thelma Mallon Beryl (Osgood) and Henry Adolf Solie in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on November 15, 1945. She was the granddaughter of Ada Evelyn Osgood and Andrew Wyle Osgood of Windsor, Vermont.

Mary Jane graduated from Windsor High School in 1963 and began a career at Cone Automatic Machine Shop in the accounting office from 1963 to 1967. On April 11, 1964, she married Roger Allen Cram, son of Kenneth Allen Cram and Marylin Whitney Cram.

Following her husband's discharge from the United States Navy, the couple relocated to Derby Line, VT, where Roger joined the Vermont State Police. The couple had two sons, Christopher Colin Cram, born on May 20, 1965, and Michael Evan Cram, born on November 25, 1969. In 1971, when Roger transferred to the Vermont State Motor Vehicle Department, the family moved to Rutland, Vermont. In 1973, Roger was transferred to Montpelier, and at that time, the family made Richmond, Vermont, their home, residing there for 38 years.

In 1976, MaryJane began working with the Vermont Department of Health, where she held various positions over 33 years, until her retirement in 2009. After retiring, Mary Jane and Roger chose to retire to the warmth of Georgia, bidding farewell to the snowy winters.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Roger, of nearly 60 years, her son Christopher and his wife, Lisa Swann, and her grandson, Harris Cram. Mary Jane was predeceased by her son Michael, who passed away in 2017 due to exposure to chemicals during his military service in Afghanistan and Iraq.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary Jane's life will be held at a later date in Jefferson, Georgia. Interment will take place at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont, at the family's convenience.

May she rest in peace, and may her legacy of love and warmth continue to inspire all who knew her.
