Mrs. Melanie Ann (Scammacca) McCarthy

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the passing of Mrs. Melanie A. McCarthy, age 66, of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered into eternal rest Wednesday April 17, 2024. Melanie McCarthy was born on August 3, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York. She was  preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Scammacca and Kathryn Pillow Scammacca Drudy; as well as her husband, Christopher J. McCarthy and sister, Kathryn Moschetto. 

Mrs. McCarthy worked as an Employee Training Coordinator at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for close to 25 years. After her retirement, she enjoyed working with the children in the after school program at North Jackson Elementary School. She loved cooking and spending time at the beach but most of all she loved being with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters: Melissa Dyer (Jason) of Pendergrass, GA; Jennifer McCarthy of Tampa, FL; and Angelica Goldsmith (Zach) of Cape Coral, FL. Three grandchildren: Ollie McDaniel of Pendergrass, GA; Brison McDaniel of Maysville, GA; and Bradley Dyer of Pendergrass, GA. Sister, Stephanie Scammacca of Pendergrass, GA. Brother, Stephen Scammacca of Texas. Two nieces and one nephew also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 27, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Eric Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at Evans Funeral Home.
