Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Phyllis Jean Wester Harbin, age 80, of Commerce, Georgia, who passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Mrs. Harbin was born in Crossville, Alabama, a loving daughter to the late Calvin “C.E.” and Martha Jane Allen Wester. Mrs. Harbin was a career credit union professional, eventually retiring from Memorial Health Credit Union in Savannah. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harbin was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin “Pops” Harbin, Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Russ Ellis and his wife Karen of Lithia Springs, Richard Ellis and his wife Lisa of Clarkesville; stepson, James Calvin “Jay” Harbin, Jr. and his wife Gina of Lyons; grandchildren, Kayla Ellis, Brianna Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Cal Ellis, Cody Ellis, Joy Ellis, James C. Harbin, III, Jameson Harbin and Alex Page; great grandson, Hunter Huff; sister, Michelle Trowell and her husband Ed of Jefferson also survives.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Verlin Reece officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
