Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Robbie Jean Holmes Benton, age 83 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday, June 1, 2025. Mrs. Benton was born in Gainesville, Georgia a daughter of the late Lonnie and Verdie Norris Holmes. Mrs. Benton was retired from the Jackson County School System and was a member of the Jefferson Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Benton is preceded by her husband, Roger Benton.
Survivors include her son, Todd Benton (Karen) of Jefferson, her daughter, Renee Klein (Jason) of Jefferson. Sisters, Jackie McElroy of Jefferson, Evelyn Cathey of Jefferson, Beth Cook of Gainesville, her brother, Thomas Holmes of Cleveland. Four grandchildren, Austin, Kaylee, Kaitlyn and Gavin also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverends Mark Mobley, Nick Dalton and Bobby Griffin officiating, with burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Justin Akin, Tyler Akin, Bradley Akin, Christoher Cook, Matthew Hart and Tanner Hart. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home.
