Mrs. Sharon Joyce (Johnson) Whitsel

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Sharon Joyce Whitsel, age 77, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Saturday, April 25, 2026. She was born in Chilhowie, Virginia the daughter to the late Bernard Johnson and the late Pearl Powers Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Arthur Whitsel and a daughter, Tanya Whitsel Cain.

Mrs. Whitsel was owner of her hairdresser salon, Sharon’s, Lilburn, Georgia. She was a very good cook, enjoyed reading and was of the Baptist Faith. Sharon loved her family but especially her grandchildren, Kenneth, Candler and Kinleigh. 

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Whitsel McDaniel (son-in-law, Michael) of Gainesville, GA. Grandson, Kenneth Logan McDaniel (wife, Lucy) of Cleveland, GA. Grandchildren, Candler Cain and Kinleigh Cain. Former son-in-law, David Cain (wife, Jenn) of Jefferson, GA. Sister, Kathy Anthony (Danny) of Athens, GA. Brother, Leon Johnson (Dana) of Virginia. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In accordance with Mrs. Whitsel’s wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
