Mrs. Susan Wood Obituary

Susan Jane Wood, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Susan was born on March 18, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to the late James and Marjorie Irish. Susan attended Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College in Grand Rapids, MI. and then went to work as a cook at Shepherds Home and School in Union Grove, WI., where she met David Wood. They were married on December 20, 1969, in Gary, IN.  Susan was a loving, faithful and supportive wife and mother.  She was a wonderful homemaker, who was very organized and always anticipated and fulfilled the needs (and so much more) of her family. (Proverbs 31:10-23)

Susan and David served for many years at Rumney Bible Conference in Rumney, NH.  Susan served in many capacities over those years - serving as cook, food service manager, nursery supervisor, bookstore manager and wherever she was needed. She was a hard worker and very talented in so many ways. Susan was the perfect, ideal partner for David during those years.

Susan was an accomplished cook and loved to bake. You would often find her baking breads, cookies and cinnamon rolls (The Best!)  She loved chocolate and would often justify eating dessert first.

Susan always kept busy, and over the years canned thousands of jars of applesauce and made many beautiful quilts.  Susan spent many years doing in-home childcare. She loved children and cared for them as if they were her very own.  All the children and their parents loved Susan dearly. David had the privilege of working with Susan the last three years of her childcare work.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, David Wood of Jefferson; son, Christopher Wood (Linda), of New London, NH; daughter, Melissa Accardy (Andrew) of Braselton, GA; grandchildren Jocelyn Lilly (Cameron) of Charleston, SC; Camden Accardy of Braselton, GA; and Paxton Accardy of Braselton, GA. She also has three surviving sisters and one brother.

Susan placed her faith in Him who said  “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” (John 11:25) We will see you again one day, we promise!
