Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Mary Jane Butler Hammond, age 76, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Friday, August 15, 2025. Mrs. Hammond was born in Winnsboro Mills, South Carolina the daughter of the late Thomas Butler and the late Mary Merritt Butler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kristy Hammond, son, Jamie Hammond, a sister, Ann Butler, one grandchild, Brian Dellinger, two great grandchildren, Thomas Carroll and Rusty Coe.
Mrs. Hammond was a homemaker. She loved to travel, sing country western songs but most of all loved being around family and friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include husband, Derald Dodds of Jefferson, GA. Three daughters, Mary Shelton (Bobby) of Jefferson, GA, Karen Dellinger (Jerry) of Athens, GA and Linda Moon of Athens, GA. Twenty grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren. Sister, Kathy Sawyer (Marty) of Mullins, SC. One niece, Anna Sawyer, and other relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., August 20, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home.
