Reverend Robert Leatherwood Obituary

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the home going of Reverend Robert Melvin Leatherwood, age 93 of Loganville, Georgia who entered glory Thursday, October 31, 2024.  Reverend Leatherwood was born in Murphy, North Carolina, a son of the late Thomas Leatherwood, Sr. and Lola Palmer Leatherwood.  Reverend Leatherwood was a U.S. Army Veteran, involved in several Baptist church and camp meeting ministries and a member of the New Testament Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Reverend Leatherwood is preceded by wife and mother of his children, Thelma Jane Johnson Leatherwood, a sister and brother in law, Mildred and Paul Outland, brothers, Maynard Leatherwood and Tommy Leatherwood and a great grandson, J.J. Yun.

Survivors include his wife Yvonne Grant Leatherwood of Loganville.  Son, Robert Steven Leatherwood of Greenville, South Carolina.  Daughter, Leigh Anne Weckel of Wilmington, North Carolina.  Step-children, Terry Turk of Douglasville, Rhonda Coffin of Loganville, John Todd Morgan of Hoschton.  Grandchildren, Kristen Marangoni, Robert Leatherwood, Kara Melick, Amanda Jones, Terry Whaley, Jason Weckel, Jessica Weckel, Alicia Brodwater, Brittany Coffin, Phillip Coffin, Kirk Coffin, Madison Morgan, McCay Morgan, Charlotte Yun, Ella Yun and Lily Yun.  Great-grandchildren, Ilaria Marangoni, Elena Marangoni, Gianluca Marangoni, Lorenzo Marangoni, Hugh Leatherwood, Eloise Leatherwood, Rhetta Leatherwood, Arnold Leatherwood, Marley Melick, Rudy Melick, Della Melick, Hudson Weckel, Lily Weckel, Avery Brodwater, Wesley Brodwater, Luke Brodwater, Haley Epperson, Chase Epperson, Chance Epperson, Ryder Wilson, Kadence Coffin, Kolin Coffin, Kallie Coffin, Charlotte Yun and Ella Yun.  Great-Great grandchild, Lawson Epperson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Pastors Andy Huff and Jack Lawson officiating. The burial will follow in Evans Memory Gardens with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at Evans Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Jason Weckel, Phillip Coffin, Robert Leatherwood, Kirk Coffin, Matt Melick, Daniel Marangoni and Terry Whaley.
