Terina Kay Brown, age 62, of Commerce, GA passed away Monday, December 22, 2024 at Northridge Health and Rehabilitation after a long illness and short time in hospice.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday January 11, 2025 at Cornerstone Tabernacle 5004 McEver Rd. Oakwood, GA 30566. Pastor Steve Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends and guests prior to and after the service.
Terina attended Stone Mountain High School and Open Campus. She loved softball and was one of the best catchers of her time. Anyone that ever played with her or against her will always remember her chattering and talking to you from behind the plate. She could chew the largest wad of gum and still talk you into swinging at the ball. She somehow could blow a bubble inside her mask and not get it stuck, much to the dismay of her coach and friends. If you ever met her you were instantly her friend and she would talk to you about anything and everything. Terina never met a stranger. She was an avid music lover of all genres and would sing in the car but never in public. Always the prankster Terina loved a good joke and often was the center of attention at any event or outing. We are convinced that she announced her arrival into heaven loud and proud stomping all the way into the arms of Jesus. If you know her then you know that she didn’t enter quietly, she entered like she always did letting all her family that went before her know she was there. Terina unfortunately developed dementia and other mental illnesses that eventually had her confined to a nursing home. Even in this time of her life as a resident favorite she was always talking about her time in softball and keeping the staff entertained. She never lost her love of softball and it is the one conversation she continued to talk about. Terina was a long time member of Buford Church of God until she began to suffer from her unthinkable disease. She never stopped loving God and attended services while at Northridge. Terina is survived by her son and daughter in-law Seth and Katelyn Brown of Copperhill TN. Father Carl Brown of Stapleton GA. Sister Carla Brown of Commerce. Niece Kaleigh Bunch of Commerce. Great Nephews Rylee, Kason, Noah and Waylon of Commerce. Her future granddaughter (Esther Kinsley) due in February 2025. The family would like to recognize and include that she is survived by 2 of her best friends that stayed in her life until the end. Tami Odum, her best friend for over 50 years. Keith Collett, her best friend for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad Belinda and Cliff Carpenter, maternal grandparents Will and Evie Saint, paternal grandparents Allen and Ethel Brown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist with her final expenses can be made to Evans Funeral Home, P.O.Box 234, Jefferson GA 30549 or to her gofundme or the special account setup for her.
